Zoe Ball and Woody Cook have been mulling over the week’s TV as they star in the new series of Ceebrity Gogglebox – but it’s not the first time we’ve seen the DJ’s son.
The 19-year-old student captured everyone’s hearts when he appeared on Channel 4’s reality show The Circle.
His kindness and honestly on the show – which follows contestants living in separate rooms who can only communicate through social media, allowing them to be whoever they want to be – made him a firm friendship with viewers and the other participants.
While he was completely himself and didn’t ‘catfish’ during the show, unlike others who took part, Woody did keep one huge secret – his famous parents.
He explained that he wanted to experience what life was like without being judged by people who have a certain idea of him as a “famous kid”.
His approach meant he also empathised with catfish James, who pretended to be single mum Sammie, because “catfishing is an escape and a way to see things outside of who you are normally”.
After the show, Woody admitted Zoe and Norman were furious when he told them he had applied to go on the show.
Speaking to MirrorOnline, Woody said they immediately asked: “What? Why!?”
“Why would you go on reality TV?
“We’ve tried to protect you from the outside world!”
Laughing, Woody added that they asked him: “Can’t you just get a job?”
But Woody won over their support when he explained the premise of the show, and that it’s “not like Love Island“.
In fact, the show is almost the opposite of Love Island, which sees contestants judge one another on their looks initially, as there is no way to do that on The Circle.
Woody’s popularity on the show skyrocketed amongst the other players and also the viewers.
Speaking after the final, he said:
“I’m absolutely buzzing. People have approached me and said ‘I hope my son’s like you’.
“It’s like a weird dream.”
While Woody had a great time on the show, there were a few interesting moments – including when he found out he had been flirting with Richard Madeley.
Richard was a special guest on the show, and was pretending to be a 27-year-old called Judy.
Not only did Woody fall for the character, he also flirted with her – and his reaction when he found out the truth was hilarious.
He joked: “There was shock, there was denial.
“It was a big moment when I went from ‘why are you flirting with someone who is a third older than you?’ to ‘why are you flirting with someone three times your age!?’
“Richard Madeley encaptured this woman, I could see her and she had some attitude.
“He knows how to act and how to move his hips.
“It really made me chuckle.”
