SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – With the warm weather Sunday, Siouxlanders filled Cone Park for a winter event. The Siouxland District Health Department kicked off its Move Your Way campaign.
The event featured free tubing, snow activities and much more. The Move Your Way campaign teaches the public on what it means to be healthy and exercise.
Leaders with the Health Department say Sioux City is one of just eight locations in the country to be launching this campaign.
“Just kind of like I said, a fun event, outdoors to get people to realize they can be actually exercising and physically active in the winter months as well here in Iowa. So, we’re just kind of like I said, launching the event today to get people aware that they’re going to be seeing a lot more of us,” said Michelle Lewis, Health Promotions and Planning Coordinator for the Siouxland District Health Department.
Lewis adds she’s excited to see the community’s reaction to the campaign.
Lewis says there are other ways to get physically active during the winter months. Like weight training at home, snow-shoeing and even just bundling up and taking a walk.
