Since everyone is stuck indoors because of the COVID-19 lockdown, Brits are struggling to find ways to keep themselves occupied.
And since it’s likely that most of us who aren’t working from home have probably made their way through a number of Netflix films by now, we’re here to help.
Online Casinos has calculated how long it would take to complete some of the most binge-worthy series, so we can plan our isolation days accordingly.
They’ve managed to do this by working out the percentage of a two or three week lockdown we could fill based on the entire length of each show – factoring in the amount of time we’re expected to be asleep.
So for a two or three week isolation period, they assumed the average person sleeps eight hours per night.
In a two week period that’s 13,440 minutes spent awake – 224 hours.
And, for a three week isolation, that’s 20,160 minutes spent awake – 336 hours.
They then divided the minutes awake by the minutes it takes to watch a TV show from beginning to end to reveal what percentage of your two or three week isolation each show would take up.
They’ve even gone as far as sharing what percentage of shows you will complete if the quarantine lasts up to six months – brilliant.
TV Shows You Can’t Complete
Grey’s Anatomy – 14 days, 21 hours to watch. That’s 159% of 2 weeks, 106% of 3 weeks.
The Simpsons (now on Disney+) – 14 days, 4 hours and 30 minutes. That’s 152% of 2 weeks, 101% of 3 weeks.
Long TV Shows
Orange is the New Black – 3 days 19 hours. That’s 41% of 2 weeks, 27% of 3 weeks.
Homeland – 3 days 16 hours. That’s 39% of 2 weeks, 26% of 3 weeks.
Game of Thrones – 2 days, 22 hours and 14 minutes. That’s 31% of 2 weeks, 21% of 3 weeks.
Short TV Shows
The Mandolorian (now on Disney +) – 5 hours, 23 minutes. That’s 2% of 2 weeks, 1.5% of 3 weeks.
Killing Eve – 18 hours. That’s 8% of 2 weeks, 5% of 3 weeks.
The Crown – 1 day, 4 hours and 58 minutes. That’s 13% of 2 weeks, 9% of 3 weeks.
Six Month Lockdown
Assuming a person sleeps for eight hours a night as per the two and three week isolation periods mentioned above, a six month period has 176,400 minutes spent awake (2,940 hours or 122 days).
And it turns out Law & Order is the best show to watch, since it would take 19 days to complete – 15.5% of six-months.
If that’s not your style, Family Guy takes seven days, three hours and 30 minutes to watch, and Gossip Girl takes five days and one hour to complete.
A spokesperson for Online Casinos said: “With everyone either WFH (working from home), in self-isolation or staying in for the foreseeable future, we wanted to look how best to use the time to catch up on your favourite shows.
“With all of us inside, Netflix, Disney Plus and Sky are going to be everyone’s first port of call for keeping themselves entertained this spring.
“And since the Chief Medical Officer saying lockdown could potentially last in some form for 6 months, we wanted to take a broader look at the TV shows we’ll be able to get through in that time too.”
Online Casinos also revealed which games and books were the best use of your free time.
Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the Nintendo Switch is in top place, taking seven days and 12 hours to complete – which is 81 per cent of two weeks and 54 per cent of a three week isolation.
And the fiction book series The Wheel of Time, which takes 12 days and four hours – 130 per cent of two weeks, and 87 per cent of three.
