IPOH: The controlled movement order announcement by the government should include isolation and control of movement in localities where community transmissions of Covid-19 have been identified, says Dr Lee Boon Chye.
The former deputy health minister said residents at the localities should not be allowed to leave their areas, unless health screening and body temperatures were ascertained to be normal.
“This action is necessary to prevent the virus from spreading through the movement of potential Covid-19 patients from one area to another.
“This step is important, as the possible ‘balik kampung’ movement between March 18 to March 31, has the potential to spread the virus to new destinations, especially in rural areas, ” said the Gopeng MP on his Facebook.
Dr Lee also urged every Malaysian to take his or her own responsibility to prevent the virus from spreading.
He said people should always wash their hands, never touch their face, and never shake hands to prevent the spread of germs.
“I welcome the announcement by the Prime Minister as this shows the government sees the serious threat of the virus.
“In my 20-month experience as the deputy minister, it has been proven that the Health Ministry has a capable and professional team, despite operating with limited resources, ” he added.
Dr Lee said at this critical moment due to the outbreak, everyone should give their cooperation and support to the ministry.
“We must understand the pressures and risks they face as the number of Covid-19 cases increases, ” he added.
